Music: Vocal, Swar Vadya, Taal Vadya | BPA (Music)

It is a four year honours bachelor course. It is a well defined, structured and disciplined training programme. After completing this course in the chosen field many career options will be open to them.

  • Job in the Primary Or Secondary schools as a Music Teacher.
  • Students will become eligible for the Vocational field and will get ample exposure in various fields related to composing, singing, solo performances and private tutions.

Course Outline

  • First Year

    Foundation Course. Common to all streams. Contains basic information of Music subject and its expanse. Beginning of specialised knowledge and performance of chosen genre. Exam - Theory 70% and Practical 30%. If a student chooses to exit after completing and passing the First Year Exam, he/she will be given a “Certificate”. Minimum Pass Marks 50%

  • Second Year

    Subject-wise division. Major subject 50%, Minor subjects (2) 20% each. Common basic content 10%. Exam - Theory 60% and Practical 40%. Students exiting the course after completing and passing the Second Year Exam, will be given a “Diploma”. Minimum Pass Marks 60%.

  • Third Year

    Subject-wise division continues. Major subject 60%, Minor subjects (2) 15% each. Common basic content 10%. Exam - Theory 40% and Practical 60%. Students exiting the course after completing and passing the Third Year Exam, will be given the Pass Degree “Bachelor of Music” (Major Subject). Minimum Pass Marks 60%.

  • Fourth Year

    Subject-wise division continues. Major subject 80%, Minor subjects (2) 10% each. Exam - Theory 20% and Practical 80%. Students completing and passing the Fourth Year Exam, will be given the Honours Degree “Bachelor of Music - Honours” (Major Subject). Minimum Pass Marks 70%.

Note

In short, the First Year Course will be a “Certificate Course”. First + Second Year Course will be a “Diploma Course”. First + Second + Third Year Course will be a “Degree Course”. All Four Years Course will be an “Honours Degree/M.A. Part 1 Course”.

Curriculum

There will be Three Groups of Papers.
  • Basic and Fundamental Theoretical concepts. History – 3 Papers.
  • Theory towards Practical Application – 3 Papers.
  • Practical Demonstration – 4 Papers.

Note
  • A student has to choose any 5 Papers from the above Three Groups.
  • All Groups have to be covered. Example: 1+1+3 or 2+1+2 or 3+1+1 or 1+2+2 or likewise.
