Kala Milan is a unique concept launched by the Maya Somaiya School of Music and Performing Arts. A site specific event it seeks to take music and dance into the hub of the student community and into the open environs of the campus offering students a vital connect point with Indian music and dance in an informal setting and space.
The venue chosen for this event is the Kutchi Haveli. A vintage wooded structure with beautiful carved pillars and a decorated roof in the midst of the central garden space of the campus. An artistic masterpiece. It offers a welcoming and open vibe to it.
Held between September to February monthly and bimonthly, Kala Milan hopes to draw students from all disciplines to the sounds of classical music and dance. Student performances, talks, workshops all form part of the event.
