Eligibilty Criteria for Vocal, Swar Vadya, Taal Vadya
Candidates seeking admission to the Master of Performing Arts degree in Hindustani Classical Vocal/Instrumental (Harmonium/Shehnai/Flute) and Percussion Music (Tabla) Must have passed 3 years BPA(Music) exam or its equivalent examination with 45% or more marks in the aggregate.
OR
An undergraduate degree in any subject recognized by the UGC, and from any university/institute/centre recognized by the UGC and must have passed Music for not less than five years in a recognised institution.
OR
An undergraduate degree in any subject recognized by the UGC, and from any university/institute/centre recognized by the UGC and Learnt Music for not less than five years from a well-known teacher/guru. Such candidates will be required to submit a certificate issued by the institution/teacher/guru, as the case may be to this effect.
Note:
- The final selection will be made based on performance in the audition test.
Eligibilty Criteria for Bharata Natyam & Kathak
Candidates seeking admission to the Master of Performing Arts degree in Bharata Natyam / Kathak must have a basic degree B.P.A or equivalent degree in the chosen stream from a recognised University or recognised institution.
OR
Candidates with a basic degree from another stream not dance, needs to have learnt the Classical Dance form for not less than six to seven years from a Guru/recognised institution with proven credentials and supported with or without performance records etc. The personal final interview will decide on credentials presented.

- The final selection will also be based on audition test/interview.

Admission will be offered based on the merit and availability of seats taken together. The candidate will be communicated via email about his/her offered seat or waitlisted number.
Important Instructions
- Admission will be offered based on the merit, and availability of seats. The candidate will be communicated via email about his/her status of admission whether confirmed or waitlisted.
- A candidate who has been offered seat will need to pay the fees ofRs.10,000/- within 5 days of the receipt of the offer letter, to secure the confirmed admission.
- Candidate who does not pay the requisite amount as per the deadline will lose his/her claim on the confirmed seat during that phase.
- Balance fees to be paid as per the schedule displayed on the website.
- The final confirmation of admission is subject to physical verification of the documents. In case of non-availability of valid documents, the confirmation of the admission will result in cancellation.
- Cancellation rules are available on the website for reference.
- The admission schedule may change under unavoidable circumstances or as per directive / instructions from admitting authorities of Somaiya Vidyavihar University. The revised schedule, if any, will be notified on the website.
Documents required for First Year 2025-26
- S.S.C. or Equivalent Mark-list
- HSC or Equivalent Mark list
- Bachelor Degree final semester Marksheet
- College Leaving Certificate/Transfer certificate
- Aadhar Card, Two passport size Photographs of the candidate
- For MPA in Vocal / Swar Vadya / Taal Vadya - Music exam board certificates (Gandharva Mahvidyalaya, Prayag Sangeet samiti,etc)
- For MPA in Kathak / Bharatnatyam - Dance exam board certificates (Gandharva Mahvidyalaya, Prayag Sangeet samiti,etc) or any other recognised institution
Note : Applicable for only Gujarati Linguistic Minority Candidate
- Self declaration of the candidate in specified format (“Gujarati Linguistic Minority Community Students Self Declaration” proforma)
- And
- Certificate from respective community/ samaj stating that they belong to the Gujarati Speaking Community.
